ASA's Return of Property Campaign a Huge Success!
The campaign began on August 17th with a mass filing of motions for
return of property by dozens of patients in county courthouses across
California. Patients finally got a chance to say "NO" to police who
seize first and ask questions later. Patients in thirty-six counties
participated in the mass filing and sought the return of nearly $1
million worth of plants and manicured medical marijuana....

Lawsuit Against the CHP for Taking People's Medicine
The CHP, in defiance of SB420 (allowing for the transportation of
medical marijuana), has a policy that instructs officers to seize
patient and caregiver medicine regardless of any documentation provided.
CHP General Law Enforcement Policy Manual states that, "[e]ven if
[medical marijuana patient status] is alleged, all marijuana SHALL be
confiscated and booked as evidence..." (emphasis added)....

Send in your KPFA ballot!
Ballots for the KPFA Local Station Board election must be received by next Saturday, December 4. (The deadline was changed because of late mailing of the ballots.) They can be mailed (preferably by Wednesday) or can be brought to the station ONLY ON SATURDAY between 11 am and 7 pm....

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger told the San Francisco Examiner that the state should require people to purchase health insurance because the uninsured “are taking advantage of the system.” The Governor emphasized the need to expand health care a month after publicly opposing Prop 72, which would have expanded health coverage to millions of Californians and stopped corporations like McDonalds and Walmart from abusing the system....
