At the end of a massive student protest (80,000 people) in Paris on February 15, 2005, hundreds of youths threw objects at riot police, smashed shop windows, trashed cars and looted goods. 24 people were arrested by police, and eight remain in custody. 30 police were wounded and eight were hospitalized.
