On February 20, about a dozen people held a vigil at the town clock in Santa Cruz to protest the state-sponsored premeditated murder of Michael Morales. Stanley "Tookie" Williams and Clarence Ray Allen were also killed at San Quentin by the death penalty in the last three months....

The Governor has decided that the state of California should execute Michael Morales on February 21, 2006. The death penalty demeans us as a society and serves no legitimate purpose. Michael Morales should be sentenced to life without parole just like his co-defendant....

Last week, that noble antiwarrior, Cindy Sheehan, declined to challenge Senator Diane Feinstein in the upcoming Democratic primary. Ms Sheehan reiterated that Party officials had not pressured her against running. It reminded me of how the Party had so thoroughly squashed the stridently anti-war candidacy of Howard Dean in 2004, that every time the good doctor surfaces now to speak, he’s looking over his shoulder.
