U.S. Policies Blasted at AIDS Conference
As the International AIDS Conference in Bangkok comes to a close the U.S. is facing sharp criticism for it's funding policies, the small size of its delegation at the conference, and a lack of action to make generic AIDS medications available. We speak with Rep. Barbara Lee, the only member of Congress to attend the conference and we go to Bangkok and South Africa to speak with AIDS activists on the ground....

Red like a river of blood, co-mingling with a dark bruise blue flattened against glaring, headlight white - so much white ... in the houses, on the curbs, spilling out of trucks and draped over horses. Island families won't lose homes
Alameda plays fast and lose with the Section 8 renters in that City. On June 3, the LA times writes that the Housing Authority of Alameda will terminate 100 Section 8 vouchers from the poor. By June 5, the Alameda housing authority sends out notices to terminate 274 vouchers, and by June 25 takes a new position and claims they are to return back 105 vouchers. Section 8 tenants fight eviction
On May 14, 1,659 families and over 600 landlords received notice from the Alameda Housing Authority informing them that there may not be any rent money for the month of June. Tenants and landlords were advised to use their security deposits to pay the rent and to negotiate a way for the renters to repay back the spent security deposits....
