Police knocked a traveling bicyclist to the ground at the bottom of a bus ramp leading to the Transbay Transity Terminal and the Bay Bridge during the 14th Anniversary of San Francisco Critical Mass, Friday, September 29, 2006. A large group of bicyclists (hundreds if not thousands) had already ascended the ramp. The bicyclist was returning to the crowd below, evidently under the direction of another police officer. It is unknown whether serious injury was suffered....

The tobacco profiteers have signs at many corner grocers against Prop 86 as Prop 86 will raise the taxes on tobacco, a great way to get children to never take up the habit. Most smokers start before age 18. The proposition is a great boost to the campaign to rid this society of tobacco without making it illegal, and improving the health of all of us....

Today Governor Schwarzeneggar signed AB 1169, a bill increasing from 30-days to 60-days the amount of time Californias renters will have to move if their landlord issues a no-fault eviction notice. The bill was authored by Assemblymember Alberto Turrico and sponsored by the ACORN, Western Center on Law and Poverty, and advocates from the disabled community and senior groups....

The Central Coast Gang Investigators Association (CCGIA), having just come off of a major training in San Jose this summer, is an association that formed in 2001 to train law enforcement officers in techniques of apprehending gangs throughout the state.
