Doug Manchester is one of the leading funders ($125,000) of Proposition 8, a California ballot initiative that discriminates against LGBT couples. While Hyatt may officially disavow Manchester’s contributions to Proposition 8 as a personal choice, the fact remains that their multi-million dollar LGBT marketing efforts must be seen as little more than sheer hypocrisy when the revenue this marketing attracts is then funneled into efforts that bite the hand which feeds them....

Many people, including people actively involved in the protests against Proposition 8, see the election of Barack Obama and the passing of Proposition 8 as a perplexing contradiction because they see Obama as a progressive who supports civil rights and will reverse the dark years of the Bush regime. They have been hoping that Obama will soon step up and say or do something to get Proposition 8 overturned. But Obama has a lot of unity with the Christian fascists on the question of gay marriage...

Monday, November 17, 2008 : I didn’t join the street protests against Proposition 8 right after it passed. My gut reaction was: “where were all these people when we had the chance to defeat it?” But “No on 8” ran a terrible campaign that would not have effectively used more volunteers, and it’s possible that many had tried to get involved....

The passage of Proposition 8 proves that many American voters are committed to a basically theocratic view of government in which THEIR moral values and commitments should rule over others. It also means the Queer community needs to do some soul-searching over why people of color and others we considered natural allies voted for 8 in greater percentages than whites did, and whether "marriage" as a term carries too much religious baggage ever to win majority support for its legal extension to ...

The Mount Hope Church is a deplorable, anti-queer mega-church in Lansing, Michigan.
The church works to institutionalize transphobia and homophobia through several repulsive projects including organized "ex-gay" conferences and so-called "hell houses", which depict queers, trannies and womyn who seek abortions as the horrors. Mt. Hope is complicit in the repression of queers in Michigan and beyond.
Bash Back! ain't down with that. And so on Sunday November 9th, about thirty radical quee...
