Northcoast Congressman Mike Thompson has introduced legislation to authorize, fund and implement the costly and controversial Klamath Dam and Water Deals. This article explains what is in the legislation, why it does not comply with international standards for dealing with Indigenous rights and why those who care about salmon, clean water, the rights of Indigenous Native tribes, and basic justice and fairness should actively oppose Mr. Thompson's ill-advised bill....

I was repeatedly interrupted, harassed, accosted and finally arrested for trying to unobtrusively record the publicly noticed two-day meetings during MLPA "Initiative" process to create "marine protected areas" on the North Coast in the Spring of 2010. We are suing the privately funded MLPAI, the Department of Fish and Game, and the Kearns & West facilitators - for blatant violations of the Bagley-Keene Open Meetings Act and the Brown Act....

We are trying to make it clear to the super-wealthy funders of the MLPA Initiative that they are not going to be allowed to disrespect this community, and destroy a family who happen to believe in the principles of law this country was founded upon. I am seeking community support to make sure this does not happen again, to anyone.

Prisoners at Pelican Bay and other prisons put their lives on the line and have courageously stood up—despite attempts by the prison authorities to suppress their struggle through lies and repression—to let the world know about the barbaric U.S. prisons and to demand to be treated like human beings. And now, after the second round of the hunger strike has ended, with many prisoners in a physically weakened state, the prison authorities are coming down with a new wave of repression....
