The organizers of an immigrant rights march in the city of San Jose, California are staying in close contact with Santa Clara County health officials. They have confirmed that there is NO BAN on public gatherings. Furthermore it is unlikely that there will BE any such ban anytime soon. And I don’t receive any of the taxpayer benefits, including the right to vote....

On March 16, San Jose Marriott workers approved a contract with the hotel after months of stalled negotiations and demonstrations in front of the hotel. The new contract reduces housekeeping workloads, maintains affordable health care, and provides solid wage increases. It also creates protections for immigrant workers who make up the majority of the housekeeping staff.

Demonstrations on the sixth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq were smaller than during the Bush years owing to the “Obama factor,” but more unified than ever against the occupations of Afghanistan and Palestine. The most visible opposition to antiwar has shifted from flag-waving ultra-nationalists to the defenders of Israel. Despite this, far more American Jews demonstrated against the occupations than in support of Israel....
