Austin Indymedia (ATXIMC) has been traveling back and forth to communities of unarmed indigenous people in Oaxaca, Mexico for the last 5 years (on and off), and in that time ATXIMC has contributed to release of 21 political prisoners, and helped spearhead three Amnesty International Campaigns. The most recent Amnesty Campaign has resulted in 39 community members being able to return home after being displaced by a paramilitary attack....

By excluding information, using delegitimizing descriptive terms, and creating inaccurate and false characterizations, the Los Angeles Times reporters and editors strip the politics from the Other Campaign and convert it into a cartoonish spectacle....

Recently, I was among the many visitors to Venezuela, mostly leftovers from the Sixth (and the first held in a Revolutionary setting) World Social Forum (WSF), who stuck around after the forum to get to know the Bolivarian Revolution a little better. For me, this time, however short and insufficient, was educational, inspiring, and empowering, culminating in the greatest single day mobilization of people I have ever experienced....
