Thousands of Students March and Rally in Watsonville for Immigrant Rights
On Friday, March 31st, thousands of students from local schools, including Watsonville High, Pajaro Valley High, Aptos High and Renaissance High, marched and rallied against HR 4437 in Watsonville.
In anticipation of the walkout, both Pajaro Valley High and Watsonville High decided to close their school doors in an effort to keep students safe.

Immigration Officers Arrest School Children
In Firebaugh, two unmarked ICE vans pulled up alongside a school bus on Friday morning around 6:30, said Brian Walker, superintendent of the Dos Palos Oro Loma Joint Unified School District. One van drove in front of the bus, forcing the driver to stop. Agents approached the bus, but the driver, following protocol, refused to open the door....

The plan for the April 10 Day of Action came from the
grassroots. The National Capital Immigrant Coalition
-- a coalition of immigrant, labor, faith, civil rights
and business community groups in the metro, Washington,
DC area -- and allies around the nation, developed the
concept of a National Day of Action. Their good idea
caught on like wildfire and today hundreds of local
grassroots organizations and coalitions are working
together in cities all over America to make our voices

Media figures attacked Mexican-flag-wavers, but not those waving Irish, Italian, or Israel
Summary: Following recent demonstrations in which protesters marched against proposed legislation that would criminalize undocumented workers, some in the media have criticized the demonstrators for carrying Mexican flags.
