Longshore workers on the West Coast have passed a resolution supporting national May Day actions for immigrant and workers’ rights. The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) took solidarity a step further by announcing a work stoppage in major West Coast ports on May 1 to support and participate in the “Great American Boycott II.”...

On April 28, 2007 on the south steps of the State Capitol in Sacramento, injured workers and
their families and supporters will join to commemorate the workers who have died or been
injured on the job. We will also protest the terrorism against injured workers by insurance
companies and the DA's of California who refuse to fight insurance company fraud but target
injured workers for retaliatory prosecution....

For years, organized labor and the LGBT community have achieved important victories by working together. In the 1970’s, Harvey Milk teamed up with the Teamsters Union to boycott Coors Beer. Two years ago, LGBT activists and the United Farm Workers joined forces to support each other’s causes – a boycott of Gallo wine, and the passage of marriage equality. Central to these struggles has been Pride at Work – a group within the AFL-CIO that represents LGBT workers....
