There are anti-war events going on all over on March 19th and obviously U.S. imperialism abroad is a crucial issue in our time. Rest assured, though, that there will be hundreds if not thousands of other people across Northern California demonstrating against U.S. wars on Thursday, just as we have done for the last seven years since before the war on Iraq even started. There will also be anti-war events you can attend Friday, Saturday, and Sunday depending on where you live. On Saturday i...

audioTown Hall Invites and Questions BART Cops, Oakland, 3/14/09: photos and audio (audio/mpeg 1.5MB) by dave id
BART Board Director Bob Franklin and five BART police officers were invited to speak at this week's Town Hall. The visit was described by Bob Franklin as BART's attempt to open lines of communication and begin to repair relations with the community, especially Oakland's African American community. They took questions from attendees for about an hour and forty minutes. The BART police largely defended the Police Bill of Rights, as well as their existence as the police agency for the tra...

This is the MOMENT. We are sick and tired of being ignored; we will no longer sit back while the police are allowed to get away with televised executions. We will not stop until we see justice. We DEMAND that Tony Peroni be fired and charged. Officer Tony Peroni was “caught on camera” striking Oscar Grant in the face numerous times for no reason. He set the tone for the execution of Oscar Grant. Officer Tony Peroni is just as guilty as Johannes Meserlie. WE WILL NOT LET HIM GET AWAY WITH WHA...

by google news mystery
There was a story recorded in google news with the headline you see above (and below) and yet now the story apparently had been removed from SFGate blogs. It confidently cites a "well-placed source" so it likely wasn't removed for credibility reasons. Was it removed as part of the gag order in the trial of Mehserle or for some more nefarious reason? And if it was removed as part of the gag order, then why is the opinion piece excerpted below by David Jackson still online?...
