Projectionists Picket Oaks Theater
Pickets will continue at the Oaks from Friday through Sunday until an agreement has been reached with the new owners of the Oaks. Updates will be posted to Indybay, and thanks to the Daily Planet for covering stuff like this in the community.

Berkeley Nazis on a Roll
65 year old disabled man was physically assaulted by Berkeley central library "guard". Then he was
assaulted by the police. Then he was turned over to "Berkeley Mental Health." Then he was repeatedly assaulted and forced into a hospital.
It was a six hour ordeal..He was released with an
"I am sorry." Now he has inappropriate bills. The one from Alta Bates is for $1,440.00....

2003 Port Protest --settlement
About 60 people were injured on April 7, 2003 when police used "less-lethal" weapons in the Port of Oakland. 24 of the injured have accepted settlements of $5,000 to $7,500. 34 others will take their claims to trial. One of the injured has undergone several surgeries, costing $80,000....

Whistleblower Accuses Oakland Animal Shelter of Systemic Abuse
A former employee at the Oakland Animal Shelter has detailed what she says are systemic abuses by shelter management. The list of wrongdoings include euthanizing dogs that were cleared for adoption, euthanizing dogs without sedatives and in one case mistakenly leaving a live dog in a freezer in a barrel with dead dogs....
