Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose horrendous environmental policies have resulted in ecological catastrophe for the California Delta and the collapse of Central Valley salmon runs, today again attempted to delude the media and the public about his environmental record by mouthing off about his "committment to building a green economy."
Schwarzenegger announced his alleged committment to "green jobs" after he signed AB 3018 by Speaker Emeritus Fabian Nuñez that creates a Green Collar Jo...

There is an underlying culture of grievance coupled with entitlement, and its governance structure is dysfunctional. The by-laws of the organization have opened it up to tremendous abuse, creating the opportunity for cronyism, factionalism, and faux democracy, with the result of challenging all yet helping nothing. Pacifica has been made so flat, that it is concave – no leadership is possible without an enormous struggle through the inertia that committees and collectives and STV’s (no, not s...

When he signed California’s long overdue state budget today, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, true to his role as the "Fish Terminator," blue penciled $3.1 million in funding from a key program run by the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) to restore endangered and threatened salmon, steelhead and other species.

Yesterday, we came to San Francisco Office of Speaker Nancy Pelosi to protest and express our support to SB 1315 and opposition to HR 6897 of Congressman Bob Filner. HR 6897.
As we protest, we heard that SB 1315 passed but take out all provisions pertaining to our veterans. This says the Congress does not recognize their war time services and do not give the same benefits as our American counterparts have. It is an insult to Filipino American community and the historical contributions o...

The police and prosecutors say they need to arrest and jail adult and child prostitutes to "protect" them from pimps and traffickers. Instead prostitutes are violated and humiliated every time police jail them. Jail means the loss of families, community, housing and other assets, as well as the demoralizing effects such as strip searches and having male officers watch female prisoners shower, dress and use the bathroom....

San Francisco Veterans Administration Impedes Veterans for Peace from Registering Voters
On September 12 two members of VFP Chapter 101 attempted to register veterans at the San Francisco VA facility. They were told their visit would be delayed for an investigation into each visitor's political activities. Lawyer Scott Rafferty stated in a press release of September 15 that this violates a February 2008 court mandate. He has filed an emergency motion to enforce that mandate.
