Black Student Union at San Francisco State is were it all began. Once you just said to utter the word "BSU" - at SF State and you could focus on what you wanted and get it. More, if the leaders of the SF BSU spoke - and they did speak up - the authorities and others listened. After years of stagnation - a few BSU students have taken on a task to light a "fire" and try their best to "enthuse" and "prod" and take the message of the SF Black Student Union - to a better place. About 50 students at Fresno State University protested today outside of a job fair held at the satellite student union. Protestors were opposed to the recruiting of students by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is part of the Department of Homeland Security. This was the 3rd annual Federal Government Job Fair at Fresno State and the first time a protest was held at the event. Photos and an interview with two of the participants are below....

8,500 UC Service Workers reached agreement with the University of California on a historic contract today that will lift thousands of families out of poverty. After a year and a half of bargaining, custodians, gardeners, food service workers and drivers won this historic agreement that will include significant wage increases, a pay system that rewards seniority and a first time ever statewide minimum wage for their job classifications....
