In the next century, 65 percent of native salmon, steelhead, and trout species in California may become extinct, according to a report released today by California Trout.

Keith Fraser, owner of Loch Lomond Bait and Tackle in San Rafael, and other anglers and conservationists are very very worried that an "aquatic transfer facility" for dredge spoils proposed by the Army Corps of Engineers could be a disaster for the fisheries of San Pablo Bay. People from the Klamath Basin and throughout California are urging the State Water Resources Control Board to not grant Warren Buffett-owned PacifiCorp a clean water permit because of the degradation of water quality resulting from the operation of company's dams on the river.
