A memo leaked to the Associated Press earlier this month states the Chinook Salmon population from the Sacramento San Joaquin Delta is at an all time low. Scientists with state and federal agencies suggest it could be climate change and or changing ocean conditions. Conservation groups and fisherman say the real cause is water diversions for Central Valley agricultural producers and Southern California developers....

Great turnout for the Feb 6th public rally against the liquified natural gas terminal proposed for Coos Bay, OR for the exlusive benefit of PG&E and other CA utilities via pipeline. Health and safety concerns were raised by Coos Bay/North Bend residents who feel that the location of a highly explosive LNG terminal near a coastal region subject to tsunamis and other seismic activity is not a wise idea....

The Hoopa Valley Tribe rejected the latest draft of the Klamath River Basin Restoration Agreement (KRBRA) released today because the agreement lacks adequate water assurances for fish.
"Hoopa will retain its rights to defend the Klamath," said Clifford Lyle Marshall, Tribal Chairman. "We will work with any and all parties to remove the dams and assure a restored healthy river."...
