Oakland, August 30, 2016: Late yesterday, UCSF Medical Center and AFSCME Local 3299 reached an agreement for UCSF to hire 24 former Contract custodians at UCSF Medical Center. The workers, primarily Chinese immigrants who had been employed by former UCSF Contractor IMPEC Group for as long as four years, had been fired in 2015 after UCSF demanded that IMPEC cut their wages by almost 50% and the workers spoke up for better working conditions....

People from the Sacramento community and anti-racist protesters from around northern California started to assemble in the morning to prevent the white supremacists from entering the capitol grounds and holding their hate rally. Militarized police cornered the protesters on the street to allow space for fascists to assemble, but to their surprise the protesters heroically challenged them and took over the steps of the capitol building before the fascists could assemble....

On the morning of June 26, hundreds of anti-fascists gathered on the grounds of the state Capitol, ready to deny access to white supremacists who had announced plans to hold a rally that afternoon.
