Sunday, the Twin Peaks bar in the Castro, and Deco Lounge, in the Tenderloin, continue a tradition of raising money to fund AIDS activities and gay community activities. In many ways, these events, which began almost 40 years ago, became the foundation for San Francisco's gay community. A plaque commemorating the first known instance of transgender resistance to police harassment in the U.S. will be installed on June 22nd at the corner of Turk and Taylor Streets in San Francisco.
