Today's Sunday Sentinel featured Jessica York's story around Santa Cruz, the Town Without Crappers. A front-page above-the-fold story, no less. On July 13, the California Coastal Commission will consider an agreement that would close the Cemex Lapis Sand Mine in Marina. The mine has been linked to severe coastal erosion in the southern Monterey Bay, which is losing more coastline than anywhere else in the state.
Surfrider, Save our Shores, and all our partners in this fight are in support of the agreement. But the Coastal Commission needs to know that you support it too.

The City Councils in Santa Cruz and Oakland City both considered an IMPEACHMENT RESOLUTION on June 27, 2017. Both Councils voted to approve and the Resolutions will therefore be forwarded to Rep. Jimmy Panetta (CA-20) and Rep. Barbara Lee (CA-13). Santa Cruz will also forward their Resolution to CA state legislators: Bill Monning and Mark Stone....

Throughout the past week, unhoused folks, who some call the Survival Sleepers, have defied the latest drive-em-out edicts of City Manager Martin Bernal. Other activists are planning protests at City Council next Tuesday. Bernal has refused to answer simple questions about his newly posted signs. Mayor Chase in a recent interview refused to put the issue on the May 23rd Agenda for Public Discussion and Vote....
