Well over forty moms and babies were rounded up and herded into the capture facility just north of West Yellowtone, Montana. The word is that the bulls won't (we'll see) be sent to slaughter after all and the yearlings (immature bison that were born last year) will be sent to quarantine....

Though we would much prefer that these creatures be taken deeper into the national park than to be slaughtered, it should not be confused that we support or condone the overall management strategies of the past or present. Habitat, year around, is still the goal and it is the sane plan....

In the article, you'll read that a study about the Iditarod was conducted by a group of Oregon MBA candidates. The "study" concluded that few people think the Iditarod is cruel and included recommendations as to how the race could better market itself.
The "study" was not independent or legitimate, since the Iditarod paid the costs. The students concluded that it is unwarranted for national sponsors to be concerned about animal rights issues. Undoubtedly, the "study" results will be used b...

[Animal Farm, Nineteen Eighty-Four, and Fahrenheit 451] revealed disquiet over the intellectually oppressive post-WWII political climate of the early 1950s during the McCarthy era in the US. That climate is now on the upsurge once again in post-9/11 paranoia, replacing the scare-mongering propaganda of the Cold War with the onslaught on minority groups that challenge the status quo. The resurgence in this attitude has undoubtedly crossed the Atlantic and infected the UK; their agenda is clear...

We can talk about the merits of Buffalo Field Campaign, of resistance in general, but if we are going to chastise people whose resistance we do not question for choosing not to suffer needlessly and passively, forgotten in jail, in the name of a caricature idea of civil disobedience, then we don't understand a thing....
