The Los Angeles Department of Animal Services just released their annual report for 2007. At first glance it seems euthanasia went down. If one looks at the actual underlying numbers, things couldn't be further from the truth. Thousands of animals were merely refused at the door and thousands more died from neglect....

Kyodo Senpaku Kaisha Ltd (KSK), the company that operates the whaling fleet for the Japanese Government controlled Institute for Cetecean Research, was served Australian Court orders on January 23 to stop whaling in the Australian Whale Sanctuary....

Sea Shepherd has challenged the Japanese surveillance vessel shadowing them, and has criticised the efforts of Greenpeace to disrupt the refuelling of the Nisshin Maru whaling factory ship. The refuelling procedure was done in the Antarctic Treaty Zone in violation of that treaty, which Japan is a signatory to....

The Nisshin Maru whaling factory ship met with the Panamanian-registered supply ship Oriental Bluebird in the Southern Ocean near Antarctica to refuel and transfer frozen whale meat. When they attempted to come alongside Greenpeace attempted to stop the refueling by placing their inflatable boats between the factory ship and the supply ship, hindering the refuelling for a time....

Benjamin Potts and Giles Lane were transferred from the Yushin Maru No. 2 to the Australian Customs vessel Oceanic Viking early in the morning at 0200 Hours Melbourne time (1300 Hours GMT). The two men were transferred to the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin at 0930 Hours Melbourne time (2030 Hours GMT)....

When the Captain of the Yashin Maru No 2 hunter killer ship refused to respond to any radio communication from the anti-whale activists on board the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin, a decision was made to send two crew members to board the Yashin Maru No2 with a written message to the Captain of the vessel....

Shortly after 00 hours on Jan 12, the Greepeace ship Esperenza located the Nisshin Maru and the other 5 Japanese whaling ships near Antarctica. The Japanese immediately stopped killing whales and started running in a foolish attempt to escape. The Sea Shepherds are only a day from contact themselves and closing in fast....

The Greenpeace ship MV Esperanza has located the Japanese whaling fleet in the Southern Ocean whaling sanctuary. The whaling factory ship, the Nisshin Maru has taken flight and is being chased by the Esperanza. Sea Shepard ship Steve Irwin is also sailing towards the Whaling Fleet. While the factory ship flees it means the hunter/killer ships cannot hunt whales and transfer them to the factory ship for processing....
