ANCHORAGE, Alaska— Today the Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit ruled that the Department of the Interior violated the law when it sold offshore oil and gas leases in the Chukchi Sea off the coast of Alaska. The decision stems from a lawsuit filed by a coalition of Alaska Native and conservation groups made up of: the Native Village of Point Hope, Inupiat Community of the Arctic Slope, Alaska Wilderness League, Center for Biological Diversity, Defenders of Wildlife, National Audubon Society...

This post is dedicated to the memory of Kelly Thomas and all victims of STATE-TOLERATED BRUTALITY. Truth be told, Police Brutality against America's people of color and poor is a 'known' but the thing that really ENRAGES ME is the reason the officers were there at all......

In this longitudinal study, we examined the relationship between naturalistic hallucinogen use and recidivism among individuals under community corrections supervision with a history of substance involvement (n=25,622). The Santa Cruz City Council will consider whether or not to reinstate the long-standing program of distributing unclaimed bicycles to youth in need. From 1996-2012 hundreds of bicycles were distributed to youth through various nonprofits. Two years ago the program was suspended with no notification or explanation, with bikes distributed for a time through a for-profit business, in violation of the municipal code. Some bikes were sold during that period which ordinarily would go to youth, also...

The over-exploitation of Oil and Gas here at home, is not about “America's Resources For America". It is a kind of sinister 'new world order' of technology driven tactical diplomacy. One might call it more accurately a Right Wing Energy Plan For Destabilization of Key States throughout the world. As the U.S. and Canada production rises, some oil producing countries could face the threat of becoming "failed states" as their leadership grapples with greater pressure for economic and political r...

WASHINGTON – The American Civil Liberties Union will appear in court on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 on behalf of a U.S. citizen who was illegally detained and mistreated by American officials in three east African countries in 2007. After fleeing unrest in Somalia, New Jersey resident Amir Meshal was arrested, secretly imprisoned in inhumane conditions, and harshly interrogated by FBI agents over 30 times before ultimately being released without charge four months later....
