badge_list-december_2018.pdf
by SCPD (posted by Norse)

by Oakland Post
The Oakland City Council, bypassing opportunities for public input, rushed to approve a Schaaf administration agreement with the Oakland Police Officers Association (OPOA) that gives officers a 12.5 percent raise over the next five years and locks in controversial provisions that reform advocates say are hampering efforts to strengthen police accountability....

Interestingly, the mission logs show an exclusive focus on protesters associated with left-wing, anti-racist, anti-fascist, or other groups opposing the Trump presidency. There is little mention of the alt-right, nationalist, or pro-Trump groups also involved in the altercations....

Among those brave enough to combat fires by taking on such dangerous duties as creating containment lines in hot zones are thousands of people enslaved by the prison industrial complex. For instance, two hundred are involved with fighting the ongoing Camp Fire. The California Department of Corrections seems proud that this past summer 58 of them were kids....

by Rasheed Shabazz
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office applied for and received a grant targeting incarcerated Black Muslims in Alameda County. The Homeland Security CVE, or Countering Violent Extremism program, has been criticized for solely targeting Muslims as susceptible to violence and extremism, while not addressing the rising threat of white supremacists. "Operation E Pluribus Unum" has been criticized for its focus on incarcerated Muslims. Law enforcement said the program was necessary to support reentr...

A short while later Scontriano walked out of the forum, as did two other candidates. "A group of students started chanting Black Lives Matter after I spoke up about equality for all, not just for one race or gender," Scontriano later stated. Scontriano's views on the Black Liv...

documentCampground Crisis As Winter Approaches
city_council_speech_10-23-18_1.pdf
by Robert Norse
The River St. campground, City Manager Bernal tells us, is slated for dispersal at the end of November, breaking the promises by his underlings—Susie O’Hara and Tina Shull that it would last through the winter until April. Instead the population will be shoehorned into a small night-time only shelter, leaving little or no room for other winter shelter refugees....
