As Feminists against Cops, we want everyone across the bay area to know that women are not safer because of police presence, in BART or elsewhere. Quite the opposite. Many women are in danger because of the police. Every police institution is sexist and violent. The police are more of a threat to women than a protection, and we do not want our public transport system militarized....

San Francisco's November 8, 2011 ballot is the most anti-labor ballot in years. There are 2 reactionary pension destruction measures, Props C&D, a reactionary city sales tax, Prop G, 2 anti-democratic measures, Props E&F, an anti-integration measure, Prop H, and 2 bonds, a poor way of financing anything, Props A&B. The headline of the August 1, 2011 Street Sheet announced "Mayor Bullies Fair Shelter Off Ballot," and the accompanying article states that Democratic Supervisors Jane Kim, Eric Mar and Ross Mirakarimi somehow let Democratic mayor Ed Lee convince them to take a reform of the shelter system off the ballot. There is no explanation as to what this pressure was....
