It's long overdue:

The PNB has no legal authority to circumvent the Contract language governing layoff provisions. The PNB’s conduct constitutes a tortuous interference with a contractual relationship. It also would put KPFA in violation of federal labor laws by preventing the union from engaging in the right to bargain in good faith with the party who is actually responsible for the management of the bargaining unit employees....

KPFA management, which is responsible managing personnel issues, has signed a contract with these workers through their union, and as such, has a responsibility to honor that contract. For the board to ignore that agreement and circumvent the management’s duty would be shameful. It is time the board honor the values they so constantly peddle and do the right thing: do not persecute these programmers. They are no less than the station's backbone....

What's really going on with KPFA's budget. Let's stop campaigning for the Save KPFA/Concerned Listeners/Bust-The-Budget slate and act like adults about the real financial challenges Pacifica Radio faces in this economic meltdown....

The purge list includes the staff of some of the most successful programs at KPFA—both in terms of popularity and fundraising—including Aimee Allison, Brian Edwards-Tiekert, and Laura Prives of the Morning Show; Sasha Lilley of Against the Grain; News Anchor John Hamilton, the only two reporters Christopher Martinez and Max Pringle and News Engineer Rose Ketabchi. Three members of KPFA’s Local Station Board who sit on the Pacifica National Board–Tracy Rosenberg, Joe Wanzala, and Shahram Aghamir–have drawn up a list of their staff enemies who they are demanding be laid off, according to a misdirected email. The three are affiliated with a slate that has a majority on the KPFA board. Their targets appear to be their political opponents on the board and in the station....

Prople's Radio recommended candidate ranking and assessments. A guide to undecided and last minute voters, KPFA members who haven't completed and returned ballots. Take time to vote now. Ballots must be mailed in time to be received, or hand delivered to the station, by Thursday September 30. We need to achieve a higher voter rate to make the elections more representative and credible (and to answer election system critics). And we need an effective majority of independent, pro-democracy bo...

If you still haven't voted, support fiscal responsibility, community activism, diversity across both ethnic, gender and age barriers and a track record of unpaid staff support and broad programming input. Save KPFA/Concerned Listeners is just a stale inside job. Reject it....

As a frequent listener to KPFA, most of the mudslinging seems to be coming from people involved with the ICR and Voices slates, not Aaron Glantz or Randy Shaw, who have written clear, credible pieces about what is happening in the station....

Monday, September 27, 2010 : Newspaper endorsements are of limited value, especially in high-profile statewide campaigns for major elected offices like US Senate.
