The Senate Judiciary Committee just announced that Senate Constitutional Amendment
1, by Senator Bill Morrow (R-Oceanside) failed to pass with a 5-2 vote. In a
dramatic double failure today for Lou Sheldon and the Traditional Values Coalition,
both proposed anti-gay constitutional amendments did not pass the state legislature....

Today, the State Senate and Assembly Judiciary Committees will hear two
Constitutional Amendments sponsored by the Traditional Values Coalition that would
repeal all rights for LGBT people and their families by enshrining discrimination in
our state constitution....

There was no vote taken at the April 27th hearing before the Assembly
Committee on Agriculture. The bill was instead held without
recommendation until 2006. Between now and then there is much work to
be done. More work needs to be done to educate members of the
Agriculture Committee before a 2nd hearing takes place in 2006....

On May 11, 2005, Pablo Paredes, a U.S. Navy Petty Officer, 3rd Class, will face a court martial for refusing to fight in the Iraq war. In Dec. 2004, Pablo refused to board a Navy ship as it left San Diego, Ca., becoming the first Navy personnel to refuse to go. I interviewed Pablo by email on May 6, 2005....
