When I saw the cover story of last week's Sacramento News & Review, "My dinner with the white supremacists" (April 21, 2005) by Harmon Leon describing his recruitment dinner with a white supremacist group, it rang a bell. I seemed to recall reading a nearly identical article in the SF Weekly when I was visiting San Francisco last winter....

Students at CSU-Fresno started a 48 hour fast today because they say their civil liberties have been violated. The students are concerned because undercover law enforcement officers have been used to monitor an event the group held on campus and they believe the administration is lying about it....

About 100 people, most of them from Tuolumne County, yesterday went to Sacramento to protest California Attorney General Bill Lockyer's lawsuit challenging the U.S. Forest Service's Sierra Nevada management plan. Teresa Schilling, spokeswoman for the attorney general. "The Bush administration wants to cut down more trees. ... We want to make sure the forests are healthy for the future."...
