Chief Arvol Looking Horse led a prayer ceremony for the buffalo inside Yellowstone National Park, outside of the Stephens Creek capture facility, from which a record number of buffalo have been shipped to slaughter. Assemblywoman Lois Wolk's AB 1806 covers mitigation for the Prospect Island fish kill and requires direct and indirect mitigation for fish losses from the state and federal water export pumps from the time they were started in the 1960's to the present. If this measure is passed, there would be millions of dollars of mitigation money available for restoration for chinook salmon, steelhead, delta smelt, longfin smelt, green sturgeon and other rapidly declining fish species.

As you may have heard, on February 24th, some kind of protest took place at the home of a UCSC researcher who experiments on animals. Hyped-up news articles and administrative messages on campus have led some people to associate this protest with the Tree-Sit on Science Hill. We wish to take this opportunity to make it clear that the tree-sit is NOT affiliated....
