The gathering planned on Science Hill in observation of the Winter Solstice will be taking place from three o clock today, on until dark. We plan to observe this change of the seasons with music, a potluck, poi spinning (instruction & practice) and other festivities near the trees occupied by individuals dedicated to protecting the forest of upper campus....

On December 21st, security guards at the Physical Sciences Building diligently watched over the parking lot on Science Hill where tree-sitters have been occupying Coast Redwoods since November 7th in protest of UCSC's Long Range Development Plan. Someone up in the cluster of trees dubbed "Tree 1" confirmed what Grrr reported in a comment on SC-IMC, that on December 20th, two carloads of cops accosted the Raging Grannies in the parking lot and then arrested a young woman who allegedly attempte...

A female UCSC student, wearing a climbing harness, was arrested by two cars of cops on Thurs 12/20 at the base of one of the tree-sits. Witnessed by the Raging Grannies at 3:45pm 12/20/07....

The police action on Monday morning (Dec. 17) at the Science Hill Tree-Sit was little more than an intimidating ruse. About five uniformed officers and at least as many plainclothes officers accompanied a "clean-up crew" consisting of a backhoe, a giant dumpster, a cherry-picker and a street-sweeper with accompanying workmen. But what did they find to fill their gargantuan dumpster with?...

This morning's tactical visit to the Science Hill Tree Sit involved a cherry-picker, street sweeper, a dumpster's worth of branches, a work crew, lots of familiar cop faces, and the removal of the larger banner from between two of the platforms....
