John Laird derides Santa Cruz environmentalists

by Meta Self (meta.self [at] cruzio.com)
Laird: business as usual; Democratic Party bullshit; Earth is dying and these arrogant bozos are in charge.
Long time Santa Cruz resident, former Santa Cruz Mayor, and former Secretary of the California Natural Resources Agency John Laird derided Santa Cruz environmentalists tonight during a California State University Monterey Bay panel discussion on the interface of science and public policy. Spinning a yarn about his participation in a public media forum in the aftermath of a deadly California wildfire caused in part by human civilization's global warming, Laird laughingly iterated being disturbed by a man with "black fingernail polish" sitting in the front row of the audience, and staring at him the entire time. At the panel discussion, Laird joked that he thought, "Oh no, who let the Santa Cruz environmentalist in?!" [paraphrase]. But then, he explained, the man turned out to be a legitimate reporter from a major news radio station. So all was well.

"There is no doubt that the oceans are in deep trouble with folks like Secretary John Laird and Senator Fran Pavley in charge of "ocean protection" in California. Laird is one of the worst Natural Resources Secretaries for fish, oceans and the environment in California history."

Could Laird be better? In a perfect world, yes.
Is it a perfect world? No.

Can anyone name someone who has or would do better than Laird? I doubt it. His report card speaks for itself:

Yes, as per Laird's arrogant, dismissive, and anti-collaborative Democratic Party politics, any Santa Cruz environmentalist with black fingernail polish would be a good candidate.

As a gay man, Laird would not be in political office if it were not for the radical gay liberation activists at Stonewall. Yet, in disparaging Santa Cruz environmentalists with black nail polish, he deliberately distances himself from the radical activism that propelled him to office. Thus, Laird is a good example of how some marginalized persons, on gaining mainstream political power, become arrogant oppressors who in turn denigrate and marginalize oppressed people. It is said, "Absolute power corrupts, absolutely."

Laird is no exception. He is a corrupt, arrogant, divisive, and dismissive mainstream Democratic Party political hack.

Human kind now has only *one generation* remaining to reverse Climate Change Armageddon, which requires de-civilization, de-population, de-development, steady state economics, and an end to the self-centered capitalism that is driving it. Laird and his 1% profiteering Democratic Party hacks will never recover from their mentally ill addiction to power in time for humanity to survive. Laird and the Democratic Party must be overthrown swiftly, or we will all die.
