KPFA GM McCoy's Supporters On KPFA LSB Vote To Ban Video Taping Of Meeting On Banning

by repost
KPFA manager Quincy McCoy's loyal supporters on the KPFA Local Station Board voted to ban the video taping of the meeting where many people were speaking out against the banning of Guns and Butter. The opposition to video taping of KPFA public meetings and the "Town Hall" meeting is a typical pattern of people who want to shutdown debate and information to continue the autocratic practices of the KPFA manager.

Although KPFA radio's board tried to prohibit people from videoing its public town hall meeting in Berkeley yesterday, it appears that some people managed to take some clips. The room was full of diverse individuals opposing KPFA management's unilateral censorship of Bonnie Faulkner's program "Guns and Butter."

The program's purpose seems to have been to explore often unpopular views from across the political spectrum and to include some guests with whom I would probably have disagreed, perhaps strenuously. However, her show also at times appears to have exposed extremely important information. (I was pleased that she had broadcast my Berkeley lecture , which KPFA wouldn't even list on its calendar. See iakn.us/2kywEvY)

I think only about 3 individuals supported management's lack of due process, censorship of the program, and removal of the show's entire 17-year archive. According to these 3 individuals, this was all acceptable because it was impermissible for Bonnie to have aired a long talk from the online Deep Truth conference in which a Jewish American analyst speaking on the topic "The impact of Zionism in the U.S." had included a short portion questioning historic events from 75 years ago (view his talk at iakn.us/2MyvnCc).

One of those stating this view that censorship was required, including removing 17 years of archives, because of a few minutes of statements that may not have been factual about a historic event from decades ago, was KPFA's Philip Maldari, host of the morning show.

Fyi KPFA has long had a history of questionable reporting on Israel-Palestine and of failing to expose the Israel lobby. See a report on its censorship in the 90s at

Here is a clip of one of the numerous KPFA listeners who objected to the cancellation of Guns and Butter speaking at yesterday’s event:

by 50 plus year KPFA listener
I listened to KPFA from 1956, early childhood, to 2014, when I just got tired of the acrimony and now that we have the Internet, did not need KPFA to obtain information instantly. I certainly appreciate Bonnie Faulkner's groundbreaking work on exposing the 9/11 Inside Job and we all should be grateful to her for her perseverance on that issue. The censors apparently want to also delete her past shows, demonstrating that they speak for the capitalist class. Some actually claim to be former communists, and always proud members of the reactionary Democratic Party, twin of the reactionary Republican Party. Their actions speak louder than any words; they are capitalist class mouthpieces.

The question remains, what is this stupidity about hosting a holocaust denier on her show? Did this really happen? If you do not believe the holocaust against Jews really happened, do you also not believe the genocide of Native Americans and enslavement of Africans that was done by the greedy, anti-labor, barbaric European founders of this backward country? All of these horrors are thoroughly documented, in minute detail, on the Internet.

I am glad No Lies Radio and the Internet exist. With both, we move forward into the 21st Century.

This is the straw that broke the camel’s back. No more financial contributions, and KPFA is dead to me. I will also tell everyone I know about this outrageous censorship of the only show that truly dares to speak truth to power. Free speech radio. What a joke.
