January 1848, the African Mexican Governor of California was in exhile and the African Founding Father of California, former US Vice Consul for Mexico helped prepare for smooth transition to California Statehood.

170 years ago, Honorable William Alexander Leidesdorff, Jr. received official written notice of vast quantitative of Gold on his 35,500 acre ranch along the American River at place called Negro Bar, today we are poised to help quantify, qualify, preserve and interpret our golden legacy at Negro Bar California State Park.

Enslaved and Free Pioneers of Pan African Ancestry participated throughout the California Gold Rush before, during and after the US Civil War.

1848-1849 the world began to rush in from overland trails and ocean currents with a singular destination of the nearest available Gold Mining District.

Slavery throughout California was met with fierce opposition in the Gold Mining District, yet wealthy Southern "property" owners were allowed to legally transition and exploit human bondage until ratification of the 13th Amendment in December of 1865.

Today, California bIpartisan local, regional, state and national leaders will help celebrate 2018 Juneteenth at Negro Bar California State Park and spark a focused effort along the Historic Coloma Road Trail to share contributions by "Hidden Figures" of California Pan African Ancestry with our global cultural tourist industry.

The late California Librarian Emeritus, Dr. Kevin Starr, shared an elevated example of inclusion by sharing our collective mosaic tapestry of authentic California History.

170 years ago the African Cuban, Danish Jewish, owner of Leidesdorff Ranch, stipulated in his Mexican Land Grant to leave undisturbrd the indeginous population of Mi-wuk and Niesan who lived on the ancient lands.

Today Gold is still mined on this historic property and a new Gold Rush will yield billions again on this special land.

Many modern scholars suggest the vast sums of gold from California and the transition to paper Federal Bank Notes to finance new technology essential to help win the US Civil War with the infusion of US Colored Troops and Colored Navy Seamwn.

The final 7 week battle of the US Civil War began on Juneteenth at the last Major Confederate Port of Galveston Island, Texas and secured the border to the Pacific Ocean.

July 1866, Congress quickly created laws to officially allow the creation of segregated Colored US Army Regiments who we later given the name Buffalo Soldiers to secure the West.

Year round, Negro Bar California State Park has an amazing opportunity to preserve the natural beauty of the area and showcase an unsurpassed National Historic Preservation Story along the Historic Coloma Trail where our California Pan African Heritage is documented and seen...
