SFGH SEIU 1021 Workers & Community Protest DPH Privatization, Racism & Bullying

SEIU 1021 SF General Hospital workers and community members rallied on May 8, 2018 to protest the privatization of San Francisco healthcare system, the systemic racism at SFCC and the removal of SEIU 1021 member Cheryl Thornton from the Potrero Hill Health Center. SF Department of Public Health Barbara Garcia has admitted the racism but is continuing to support the removal of SEIU 1021 member Cheryl Thornton and continuing to allowing workplace bullying a SFPH.

Community members spoke about the ongoing attack at the Potrero Hill Health center in the DPH effort to shut it and get rid of community advocates including Cheryl Thornton. They also reported on the role of Zuckerberg and the management to turn SFGH into a privatized operation controlled by Zuckerberg and corporations that want to make SFGH a profit center with “lean management”.

They also reported an epidemic of workplace bullying that is harming the workers and also the patients at SFGH.

Workers also called for support to the UC AFSCME 3299, CWA UPTE and CNA workers who were also striking against the attacks by UC management and the UC regents who are also pushing privatization and outsourcing.
