What DACA is Doing To Families

by Gabriela Larios
My article is about how DACA is affecting not only the recipients, but the families as well.
Deferred Action for childhood Arrivals is an immigration policy that opened up doors for a huge population. Young undocumented immigrants were given hope and a brighter future. The policy not only offered these individuals a working permit, but also protection from deportation. There are undocumented immigrants who fear everyday of being taken away. This population had the security of not being taken away and most importantly not being separated from their loved ones.
From our research I learned that the removal of DACA will not only affect the receipt, but the receipts family as well. Many families are scared for their relatives to get deported for several reasons. Some of these reasons include that they rely on them financially, for their relatives to go back to a place that they are not familiar with, and being apart from them. The elimination of DACA will not only take their working permits away, but will take them away from their families.
