The Freedom Sleepers organized their 45th community sleepout at Santa Cruz City Hall on May 17.

The activists, some housed and some unhoused, have been organizing the sleepouts once a week since July 4 to protest local laws that criminalize homelessness.

This is so rad. The author covers Who, What, When, Where, and Why in two sentences! Add in four photos, and we have another great article in the impressive ongoing coverage of the Freedom Sleepers at Santa Cruz City Hall.

The weekly demonstration, almost a year old, is also impressive for it's determination and effectiveness.

Alex has probably been to more of the 45 sleepouts than any other individual. It seems that only paid reporters are recognized with awards and honors, however the Freedom Sleepers coverage by Alex certainly deserves widespread praise and admiration. Thank you.
