There is some declining support for the death penalty but when you consider MOST OF THE WORLD, not just the industrialized world, has abolished the death penalty, including Mexico, South Africa and Ivory Coast, then you realize the United States is a profoundly backward country in its support of the death penalty. Almost 60% of Americans, including 47% of Democrats, still support the death penalty and 44% think it is not applied often enough. Over 50% of Americans believe the death penalty is applied fairly when in fact only the poor, and especially the non-white poor, receive a death sentence.
If you oppose the death penalty, you have to vote for the only 2 parties that oppose the death penalty. You can go online now at to register at: https://covr.sos.ca.gov/?language=en-US
