Shackled and Chained:Mass Incarceration in Capitalist America

Friday, February 7, 7pm
2969 Mission St., San Francisco

In these hard economic times, the African American and Latino communities continue to be disproportionately the victims of high levels of unemployment, police brutality and incarceration. But this is not new. The vast wealth of the capitalist system was built on a foundation of unpaid Black labor and colonial exploitation. Today, the USA is Number One in the world in imprisoning people.

Our featured speaker, Eugene Puryear, author of Shackled and Chained, Mass Incarceration in Capitalist America, will speak about the causes of mass incarceration, as well as examine the harsh reality inside America’s prison system.Plus hear updates on the cases of Marissa Alexander, out on bail awaiting a new trial, and CeCe McDonald, released after 19 months from prison for defending herself against a group of racist, transphobic assailants.

Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation as we discuss the connections between economic oppression, mass incarceration and police brutality

En grilletes y encadenado:
Encarcelamiento masivo en América capitalista

viernes, 7 de febrero, 7pm
2969 Calle Mission, San Francisco
