Stop the violence! Stop fur! DxE Freeze

The Grand Central Freeze (http://youtu.be/jwMj3PJDxuo) is one of the most famous instances of street art in recent history. Hundreds of people froze in place at a pre-arranged time in NYC's Grand Central Station, as stunned passers-by looked around in bewilderment. Tens of millions more saw the video a few days later.

On Saturday, December 21 -- one of the busiest shopping days of the year -- we are asking all of you to join us in a similar project... but this time, for the animals. We will head to one of the many stores in the SF area that sell fur. And we will FREEZE in our tracks outside the entrance to the store, at a pre-arranged signal, with STOP THE VIOLENCE placards scattered everywhere. As passersby walk through our mass of frozen activists, a speaker on a bullhorn will demand that animal-abusing corporations STOP THE VIOLENCE. Leafleters will share information with curious passers-by. And multiple videographers will tape the event.

Activists in other cities are welcome to join us in this demonstration, and we can help you organize!

The location indicated in this event is a rehearsal location. We will practice the FREEZE a few times, then head over to a public space (to be announced at the rehearsal) to execute it.

ABOUT FUR CRUELTY

Animals in fur farms live in tiny cages and are denied opportunities to engage in natural behavior. Many develop psychotic and stereotypical behaviors – pacing back and forth endlessly, or gnawing on their cage doors – as their minds crumble under the stress of confinement.
