Defender of climate justice in Africa and in Europe, central figure in the fight against multinational oil corporations, Nnimmo BASSEY has most notably succeeded in rendering illegal gas flaring* in Nigeria, his home country.

Winner of the Alternative Nobel Prize in 2010, coordinator of Oilwatch International and President of Friends of the Earth International, Nnimmo is, amongst other achievements, the author of "To Cook a Continent, Destructive Extraction and the Climate Crisis in Africa".
He was in Montreal this weekend as part of the Alternatives' Solidarity in Action Festival, and met with us June 14th to discuss the current struggles faced by activists and climate justice movements in the Niger Delta and across the African continent, as well as strategies for building local & international solidarity in the face of ecocide.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
