Dear friends and allies of UNA.

I am informing Each of You Now that Our Family has Been Evicted from Our Home of Over 26 Years, and that We Must Be Completely Moved Out By Wednesday June 5th 2013 by 4pm.

Today as my father Lehman L. Brightman lies in a negligent care facility, he has been rendered homeless in the last days of his life, and knows that the only home he has is within his body and his spirit. After 20 months of struggle to secure my father’s home, we fought a good fight but have lost this battle to the system. Once more the corporation and state have worked in tandem and wielded their power to take away from a working man what is rightfully his. He has raised a family, served his country, championed the oppressed, and worked all his life. His life is a mission that cannot and will not be foreclosed on. He has paid in full.

Now it is up to me and others who care to help in any way, to honor his life’s work by securing his possessions and preserving the historical legacy of his many struggles for Indian people. If you can help, with money, with time, with a truck or with storage space, it is all appreciated. I have compiled a list of needs that we have in preparation for the eviction. If there is anything you can help with, please contact me. Wopila tanka.
