Pig Dies Of Thirst At Hospital Complex In Akron Ohio

A pig has died of thirst at Akron's City Hospital, part
of the Summa Hospital complex which at present includes
Ohio hospitals:
Barberton Citizens Hospital, the former Green Cross
Hospital of Cuyahoga Falls, and Robinson Hospital in Ravenna.

Dogs also are among the animals researched on at Summa.
They sometimes jumped to their deaths when exercised on
the roof. That exercise has stopped. Mammals are given
laryngectomies, so that their cries, said former hospital
employee, James E Ritchey, coming through the ventilator
shafts do not disturb patients. Since then Summa has
put the animals in a secret locked facility.

Summa's hospital cafeterias do not meet standards for
healthy food nor do they have adequate selections for
vegetarians and vegans.

Their dental program for the poor involves no partial
plates. Patients are pressured to have all their healthy
teeth
removed for full dentures rather than partials.

Summa like many US hospitals has outrageously high prices.
