Flat Lined Salmon

by Beeline
2011, not a good year for juvenile Sacramento river salmon according to FWS data.
The US Fish and Wildlife website http://www.fws.gov/redbluff/rbdd_biweekly_final.aspx has graphic information on the numbers of juvenile salmonids that passed through the Red Bluff Diversion Dam complex for a number of years including 2011.

You can check out the graph yourselves but 2011 did not look good at all. It's pretty much a very low flat line compared to previous years.

In light of this data I have to ask the question, Why was the salmon season made more liberal this year? Was the decision more political or scientific? Bad science is being exposed almost every day now and the future of the Sacramento salmon run is at stake.
