Community Media with Indybay is a Free Skool Santa Cruz class.

July 25th is the 2nd class. Remaining classes will be held on the following Wednesdays at 7 PM: Aug 8th, Aug 22nd, Sep 5th, & Sep 19th.
Location TBA / Contact Teachers.

Community Media with Indybay will be an introduction to contributing to the all-volunteer website, Santa Cruz Indymedia (aka Indybay), which is part of the global Independent Media Center network.

We will discuss the philosophy of Indymedia, and demonstrate how anyone can publish text, photos, audio and video, either as news articles or event announcements, directly to the website.

You will sharpen the skills you are already have, and be ready to cover the action in the streets.

Anyone wishing to learn how to publish content to Indybay is welcome to attend.

Drop-ins always welcome.

This Free Skool Santa Cruz 2012 Summer class will be taught by Alex and Bradley, volunteers with Santa Cruz Indymedia.

About Free Skool Santa Cruz

A radically different approach to living and learning, Free Skool Santa Cruz is a grassroots educational project beyond institutional control. It a direct challenge to dominant institutions and hierarchical relationships. The project strives to blur the lines between teacher, learner, and organizer.

About Santa Cruz Indymedia

Santa Cruz Indymedia is an open-publishing website for the Monterey Bay Area. Indymedia is a tool for the creation of radical, accurate, and passionate tellings of truth. Since 1999, Indymedia has grown into a network of Independent Media Centers (IMCs) all over the world by means of a commitment to equality, decentralization and autonomy.

Indymedia empowers anyone to become the media for the purpose of sharing information and views that are blocked out or misrepresented by the corporate media; that is, to stand with the oppressed against the oppressors.

Thanks to those of you who attended tonight's class. Two weeks ago, there were four of us. Tonight, there were six of us, and it was very productive. Community media is building in Santa Cruz.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
