Occupy Oakland Defends Foreclosed House and Lot at 18th & Linden, 11/21/11: video & photos

by Dave Id
After two raids cleared have Occupy Oakland from Oscar Grant Plaza, another raid Sunday morning cleared the brand new encampment at 19th Street and Telegraph, and yet another raid just yesterday cleared the month-old camp at Snow Park for the second time, occupiers are pressing on, not missing a day, as they are now defending an empty lot and house facing bank foreclosure at 18th Street and Linden in West Oakland. Within hours, a small kitchen and a dozen tents were in place as supplies and donations continue to pour in. In the video below, Chris M. explains what occupiers hope to achieve for either the owner, the tenant, or both.

On November 19th, after Occupy had taken the abandoned lot at 19th Street and Telegraph, CBS channel 5 opened their 6:30pm newscast with this introduction of the scene: "Don Knapp is there with a look at the destruction." Don Knapp later commented that Occupy Oakland had "devolved into something of a party" before a protester flipped the bird at their camera and the live shot was immediately cut.
