The purpose of the party is to commemorate March 4th as a historic day of struggle against the budget cuts. In the party the Local activist will welcome the De Anza contingent from San Francisco. We want to rest from all the hard work put into organizing March 4th and stand in solidarity with each other.

The past 18 months has seen over $840 million being cut from the California Community College system. The number of class offerings has declined dramatically; as a result, 135,000 students who would otherwise get in to UC’s and CSU’s have been re-directed to community colleges; and as a result of this, an estimated 250,000 people have been denied access to higher education over the past year.
