then march by BART to arrive 5:00 PM at Fifth & Market in SF

PROTEST IN THE STREETS THE DAY AN ANNOUNCEMENT IS MADE TO SEND MORE TROOPS INTO AFGHANISTAN
President Obama will soon announce the plan to expand the occupation of Afghanistan. The immediate response - that same evening, across this country - must be STREET PROTESTS & DIE-INS that boldly oppose this outrage. More protest and resistance must follow, yet that first night is crucial, since that is when the media -- and the rest of the world -- will be looking for a response from the people.
According to some media analysts, Obama may make his announcement sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 11, although it could happen earlier, or perhaps later. World Can't Wait is calling on all organizations and people of conscience to get ready for this. Whether Obama chooses a huge troop increase, or the covert operations & unmanned drone option to try to "win" in Afghanistan, we should be in the streets opposing ANY escalation. The only acceptable announcement to come from the administration would be that they're withdrawing combat troops, support troops, CIA drones, covert operations, and all private contractors NOW.
The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan eight years ago was an illegitimate war of aggression predicated on lies and waged as a war of terror by the Bush Regime. This invasion was and is a war crime. Just because the war now belongs to Obama doesn't make it any less a war crime. The war upon Afghanistan, like the war upon Iraq, is a war/occupation for U.S. Empire and nothing else.
People who argue that the Taliban will take control if the U.S. leaves and Afghan women will be in a far worse position should know that, since the invasion, the situation has deteriorated and gets uglier everyday for women there. The women and the people of Afghanistan have the right to self-determination. They should not be forced into choosing to live with a suffocating U.S. occupation or an Islamic fundamentalist theocracy. This is what U.S. military presence and involvement does - it forces the people there to make this horrible choice.
People of conscience in this country must take a bold and visible stand and say, "Stop the Escalation, Out of Afghanistan Now!" "The World Can't Wait/Stop the Crimes of Your Government!" Join us in resisting these U.S. wars/occupations and ongoing torture for Empire. An escalation of the war in Afghanistan, no matter how many U.S. troops are sent or frequency with which drones are used to bomb the people, is not the change that many in this country sought when they voted for Obama. This escalation perpetuates and intensifies the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan that has been a horrifying, living nightmare for the Afghan people.

I thank you for posting this and giving me a bit of hope that people are still mobilizing to end this madness. The lack of protest since Obama took office against the war has been... tepid at best. People need to take to the streets and send a clear message that any escalation of troops is NOT OK. It doesn't matter if your for Obama or not. What matters is that he knows people still care and are willing to take to the streets and and use our rights to send a message that any escalation in Iraq or Afghanistan is NOT OK and will not be tolerated. We will not stand idly by and allow this to happen. RISE UP!
It did not go unnoticed by me that the day the possible escalation was announced was the same day Obama appeased the left by telling the DEA to stop raiding medical marijuana gardens that are legal by state laws. The same day he also made some VERY tepid moves to appease pro immigration folks. Although these are good small measures. The purposeful timing is an obvious ploy to keep the Anti War folks from protesting. He could end hunger in America tomorrow and it does not make change anything regarding war. Don't give Obama a free pass to escalate the war. Stand up and let him know we will not allow this to happen. We will not stop, we will not rest until every troop is brought back and this bullshit war on an ism is brought to a swift end.

No Pasaran!! This anti-fascist message from the democratic united front against fascism in the civil war of Spain is again becomming relevant to the whole world and its necessary movement to dismantle the world's war machine and its manufacturies. Obama is making the most terrible mistakes of his political life. One good move was to spread the ban the bomb message of the masses to the worlds media as a re-newed message. Like Sitting Bull said, they give to you with one hand and take away with the other. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.
So many more people will march throughout the streets of North America protesting the upcoming troop escalation in Afghanistan. That is great to witness people protesting against needless wars brought on by our military-industrial government complex.
While this happens the Taliban resistance fighters will continue their jobs of protecting Afghanistan against the repeated incursion of the infidels. The Taliban will fight with far less resources available to them as the well armed U.S. troops, their greatest weapon being courage and determination. Regardless of their political outlook towards women, the Taliban remains the last resort of defense against the possible UNOCAL oil pipeline that Karzai was appointed to oversee the installation of.
The Taliban will not get tired of fighting, the young Talibs who die early will only inspire the actions of future fighters. Just as many people as we send over from our working class communities to die there will be equally matched by new recruits to the Taliban who are tired of foreign forces occupation of Afghanistan.
Physics in nature shows that for ever action there is an equal and opposite reaction, for the failures of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East dictated by indefinite ongoing military ocupations designed to secure puppet governments (Karzai) and potential petroleum infrastructure projects (UNOCAL pipeline), there will be a response of localized guerrilla resistance fighters in the form of the Taliban. Plenty of work for Grim Reaper upcoming in the fields of Afghanistan, plenty of souls going to leave their physical bodies as the U.S. government under Obama decides to send more troops over to the Alpine Quagmire called Afghanistan..
My advice is the same as always to people with friends and loved ones in the military, this weekend would be a great time to GO A.W.O.L. and take off somewhere!!
People going AWOL can hide in the remaining patches of forested woods, swamps, deserts and any other wilderness areas of North America, just DO NOT get on ANY planes, boats or other military transport devices bound for Afghanistan. The Grim Reaper is getting hungry for human souls, and it looks like Obama will grant G.R. this wish by sending off more human sacrifices on the alter of petroleum infrastructure security under puppet Pres. Hamid Karzai..
