The City and County of San Francisco has a plan to shut down the Mirant Power Plant.
The City and County of San Francisco has suggested to the California Independent Systems Operator (CAISO) that they have a PLAN to close down the Mirant Power Plant. This is just a plan but as and when we have the Trans Bay Transmission line in place, with 400 megawatts of electricity landing very close to the present Mirant Power Plant, San Francisco will have excess electricity. Right now we consume about 980 megawatts and during Peak Hours need another 40 megawatts. Bottom line we need to get rid of fossil fuel Power Plants that pollute the environment.
