Call Assembly Speaker Karen Bass To Say No To The Water Bond
Restore the Delta has heard that the California Assembly is writing language for a water bond in exchange for a deal on the state budget.
Please call Assembly Speaker Karen Bass and let her know that cutting a deal that would provide funding for the design of the peripheral canal in exchange for agreement on the budget is unacceptable. Linking water policy to the state budget will destroy the Delta.
Let Speaker Bass know that she is responsible for good governance for all Californians and that the peripheral canal will not make more water for the people of this state.
Also, let Speaker Bass know that the peripheral canal will not restore fish populations, but it will destroy the $2 billion California Delta agricultural economy. Plus, pushing such a bond during a state financial crisis, which will be solved with more taxes and/or more debt, is simply bad financial planning for California' future.
Karen Bass -- Speaker of the Assembly Dem-47 (916) 319-2047 Assemblymember.Bass.@assembly.ca.gov
