***SHRINE TO AMERICAN FEMALE CASUALTIES ERECTED IN FRONT OF RECRUITING CENTER***

*To date 93 American servicewomen have lost their lives in the war on Iraq.*

Members of the Raging Grannies Action League held a memorial service and left a shrine
to the fallen in front of a brand new recruiting station in Mountain View, CA.

At 1:30pm as we left the scene visitors to the shopping district at Grant Rd. and
El Camino Real were seen stopping to observe the flag, candles, flowers and list
of names of the dead.

This Event was part of the Iraq Moratorium National Action and was supported by
individual members of Los Altos Voices for Peace, Mountain View Voices for Peace and
Veterans for Peace who joined us in a demonstration of approximately 35 people.

The Military Recruiting Station in Mountain View is called the "US Armed Forces Career Center" and was locked with a padlock. They might have known we were coming.

Here you can see the Grannies preparing the shrine with US flag, flowers, and names and photos of some of the 93 dead US servicewomen.

Ironically, this sign is displayed in the window of the Play It Again Sam Sports Equipment next door to the recruiting station. Playing on that theme we displayed our own message: Mountain View is Raging Grannies Territory
